Safework Australia is a national body that works to improve workplace health and safety in Australia.
It sets and monitors national workplace health and safety standards, provides advice and guidance on health and safety issues, and conducts research and education programs.
Safework Australia also works with state and territory governments and other stakeholders to develop and implement effective strategies to prevent workplace injuries and illnesses.
Safework Australia was formed to provide national leadership and coordination on workplace health and safety, and to promote a consistent and effective approach to improving workplace health and safety across Australia.
It was established in 2009 as part of the Australian Government's National Occupational Health and Safety Strategy, which aims to reduce the incidence and impact of work-related injuries, diseases and fatalities in Australia.
