Safework Australia was formed to provide national leadership and coordination on workplace health and safety, and to promote a consistent and effective approach to improving workplace health and safety across Australia. It was established in 2009 as part of the Australian Government's National Occupational Health and Safety Strategy, which aims to reduce the incidence and impact of work-related injuries, diseases and fatalities in Australia.
